Bri Datelle

Family Law Attorney

Before joining Benjamin Legal, Bri Datelle worked as a legal intern in Atlanta assisting with a variety of matters ranging from criminal defense to personal injury. In addition to her case work, she also assisted with research studies that sought to uncover the contributing factors to mass incarceration and recidivism.

Bri then moved to California where she passed the California bar exam. During her time in California, she worked with the renowned California Innocence Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to exonerating those who have been wrongfully convicted, rigorously training law students, and initiating changes in California’s legislation.

During her time in California, Bri joined Jones Trial Attorneys as a clinical extern and worked in the capacity of an attorney under the California Bar’s Practical Training of Law Students program. Bri participated in trials, preliminary examinations, felony negotiations, and argued complex motions.

Bri continued her work as an associate attorney representing clients facing issues in the criminal and family law fields. As an associate attorney, Bri has represented clients in felony jury trials, successfully argued mental health diversion motions and military diversion motions, and has successfully defended clients against domestic violence restraining orders. In doing so, she also assisted clients with coordinating access to mental health services as needed.

Bri’s research and work experience have equipped her with invaluable insight into the systemic challenges faced by defendants in the American legal system. As an attorney, Bri continues to seek innovative solutions that prioritize healing and rehabilitation over outdated, primarily punitive measures.

Outside of work, Bri volunteers with restorative-justice-based organizations that seek to spread awareness on the profound impacts of early childhood trauma and the need for trauma-informed policies throughout the justice system. In doing so, Bri aims to foster understanding, empathy, and fairness not just for her own clients, but for all individuals in the legal system.
